Jimmie’s uniqueness started at birth with being born on Christmas Day. He is a native of Delaware and his family heritage includes part American Indian, of the Cherokee tribe’s ancestry. His bloodline also includes French, German and English lineage. The varied ethnicity of his genetic background is just one of many characteristics about him. His professional career also reflects comparable diversity.
Jimmie has been involved throughout the entertainment industry for most of his life. At age five, it already seemed that his presence on stage was destined. He was singing in the church choir, and at the same time his modeling exposure began. And that was only the beginning. As the childhood years developed, so did his versatility, not only on stage but in other areas as well.
He was a journalist with the school paper, which was printed in the local newspaper and the acting school paper’s Editor-In-Chief when necessary; was published at a national level;’ sang in a band and acted in plays. Jimmie, even as a child, was never just a ‘one at a time’ project oriented person. He has continued to reflect that throughout his career.
One of his greatest attributes is the ability to maintain his multiple fields of endeavor. That continues to be reflected by his ongoing modeling career (whether that is runway, in print, promotional or mannequin oriented;) to a variety of performances on stage; and his ‘behind the scenes’ work for those events.
Just part of that back stage work includes his writing, directing, producing and choreographing an array of fashion shows. At times his ‘on the stage’ and ‘behind the scenes’ endeavors are concurrent; wearing a combination of hats for many of the productions.
The on stage performances have taken him throughout numerous countries around the globe. Currently, much of Jimmie’s time is split traveling between the US and Europe. Yet, with that constant ongoing travel his multi-talented structure remains intact.
Jimmie, being one that does not sit idle, continues to add to his list of engaging activities, to include web site designs for his companies; and contemplating writing a book, while con-currently maintaining the other ongoing projects as well. His diversified talents are only enhanced by his continued multi-threaded abilities.
Jimmie’s unique career is like having multiple careers at once. Yet, throughout his years, somehow his imaginative, creative and business skills allowed him to keep those many areas of involvement flowing and ongoing at once to form the conglomerate oriented career it has become. He has that ability to somehow always look ahead to determine what other areas of speciality are on the horizon.
In addition to the above credentials, Jimmie also has become a successful businessman. He has an array of business ventures. Jimmie merged his production / entertainment company, Attude, LLC under his Personal Chef and Full-Service Catering Company with equal ownership with his partner Jeffrey Bailey. Making one company under the name, Lee Bailey Reed, Premier Private and Corporate Catering with Jimmie as the CEO and Jeffrey as the Executive Chef. Jimmie, incorporating his expertise and entertainment background in the catering service, also produces, co-directs, markets and assists Jeffrey in the instructional classes on cooking.
Beyond his professional entertainment and business career, Jimmie also has that desire and willingness for outreach. His passion runs deep for those in need, whether that is towards the homeless or those stricken by some illness or disease. He has been directly involved with various projects to benefit others, by helping to raise money, plan and / or perform for charity events to include those for AIDS, Children’s needs and Cancer. Many times his role for such events is behind the scenes too. The key to him is that the ‘show must go on’, regardless of what area of participation he plays. But then that is his style.
Jimmie never remains bogged down in his previous successes and he continually leaps forward. His accomplishments are numerous to include singing on stage with Patti LaBelle and modeling for such designer lines as Calvin Klein, Versace, Armani, DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger, Union Bay and others. His modeling ventures also deal with numerous stores to include Macy’s, The Gap, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, Eddie Bauer and Nordstrom.
He also had a six-week onstage run, in the role of a physically abused partner in a highly volatile relationship; a two-week run as the Scarecrow in “The Wiz”; and countless productions and performances in fashion shows. Additionally, he played an extra for TV venues and during the filming in Delaware, of "Beloved," the movie based on Toni Morrison's book that Oprah Winfrey produced and starred in; and the list goes on.
His career is and has been a versatile one; and his personal view and outreach for life in dealing with people - personally and professionally are just as encasing. Life is what you make it and Jimmie lives it.
